Crime Stoppers NT website launch – Darwin

Police

Crime Stoppers Northern Territory has today launched its own website as another tool for the public to provide information confidentially.

Chair of the Crime Stoppers NT Board, Robyn Lesley said the Crime StoppersNT website had been developed in partnership with NT Police whose role it would be to monitor and control the website and its operation.

"Crime Stoppers is an Australian initiative which has now spread throughout the world and contributes positively to police investigations leading to arrests," Ms Lesley said.

"The Crime Stoppers telephone Hotline - 1800 333 000 - has been in existence for a number of years and has also proved to be a positive tool for police," Ms Lesley said.

"The development of the Territory's own Crime Stoppers website will provide another means by which the public can access information on outstanding crimes and outstanding missing persons. It will also provide another means by which members of the public can provide confidential information to police anonymously.

"The Crime Stoppers NT Board provided $25,000 for the development of this website and we feel sure it will be a well-utilised tool for the sharing of information between police and the public. The Crime Stoppers / police partnership is a very positive one Australia-wide and the NT website will link with all other Australian jurisdictions as they come on board."

Crime Stoppers NT receives funding from the Commonwealth Department of Attorney general and ongoing local support from its sponsors TIO, Channel 9, Cridlands MB and Merit Partners.
