A man has died after falling five metres down a cliff face near Glen Helen Gorge.

Police and emergency crews received a report just before11am today that a man was trapped in a crevice on a cliff face about a kilometre from Glen Helen resort.

The Northern Territory Emergency Service Volunteer Unit was activated and volunteers from Alice Springs and Hermannsburg attended the scene to retrieve the man's body from the cliff face.

Police from the Alice Springs Regional Investigations Division and Hermannsburg were also sent to the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
