Major Crime Detectives have charged a 31-year-old male with murder after an incident that occurred in Borroloola last Thursday (24 December).

Borroloola Police Officers attended a disturbance at approximately 12:00 pm and located a 29-year-old female victim, believed to have sustained numerous stab wounds to her upper body.

She was conveyed to the local clinic however was declared deceased a short time later.

Members from the Major Crime Unit arrested the male and he was remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Magistrate's Court today.
