Police are investigating two incidents in which a total of four cars were torched in the Darwin area.

Police received a report just after 2am that a Holden Commodore was ablaze in Marsina Court, Larrakeyah. About twenty minutes later they received another report that three cars were ablaze in Mitchell Street.

Firefighters extinguished the fires but the three vehicles - a Toyota Supra, a Toyota Landcruiser and a Ford Focus - were extensively damaged.

Police are treating both incidents as suspicious and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
