Alice Springs Police have confirmed the identity of a man found deceased on the Larapinta Trail on Monday.

Police received a report from Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife rangers that bushwalkers had found a body of a man 5.5 kilometres from Glenn Helen Resort just before 4pm on Monday.

Police confirm the body is that of 57-year-old David Platt from Victoria.

Police believe Mr Platt was walking the Larapinta Trail by himself when he died.

The cause of death is yet to be determined.
