Police are no longer searching for three Belgian tourists who were reported missing yesterday.

Police received a report that the men were missing from a concerned friend around 9am yesterday.

The man told police he had left the trio in their Ford Falcon station wagon at Ormiston Gorge on Friday. They were to continue to tour Serpentine Gorge and The Ochre Pits before driving back to Alice Springs. The men agreed to phone the complainant when they arrived in Alice Springs around 2pm. When they failed to phone he contacted police.

A media release was issued yesterday about the concern for the men's welfare. However, the men contacted Katherine police station around 9am today after they heard they were believed to be missing through the media.

Police would like to thank the media for their assistance in this matter.
