The 35-year-old victim had been at another residence in Humpty Doo and was conveyed back to her home later that evening by the male.

She awoke early the next morning to find him attempting to sexually assault her.

The offender was located a short time later and has since been charged with:

Attempt sexual intercourse without consent
Aggravated assault
Unlawful entry

He was bailed to appear in the Darwin Magistrate's Court on 5 February.
