Police are appealing for witnesses in relation to an incident that occurred last night in Nightcliff.
At about 9.40 pm a resident on Lotus Street, Nightcliff interrupted two male youths stealing his vehicle, a blue Toyota Dual Cab utility. Whilst trying to reverse out of the driveway, the pair crashed into the fence of the property and they ran off on foot towards Woolworths Nightcliff.
Both of the youths are described as of Aboriginal appearance, one wearing a white shirt with black shorts and the other a black shirt and shorts.
Anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident, or has information that could assist police in identifying the males, is urged to call 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Darwin Watch Commander Senior Sergeant Chris Lyndon said, "The car keys to this vehicle were left on a table under the house and we remind the public that keys to vehicles should be kept secured at all times to prevent incidents like this occurring.
