Police have arrested and charged a 29-year-old male that is allegedly responsible for the attempted sexual assault that occurred Monday morning.

It is believed that the victim, a 40-year-old female, was grabbed from behind as she walked along Gilruth Avenue at approximately 3:30 am.

He was apprehended Monday afternoon and has since been charged with:

Attempted Sexual Assault
Aggravated Assault
Deprivation of Liberty
Stealing

He has been remanded in custody and is appearing in the Darwin Magistrate's Court this afternoon.
