Police are calling for witnesses in relation to an assault of a 27-year-old female in Stuart Park yesterday.

The woman was walking on Westralia Street towards the shopping complex at about 6:45pm when the attack occurred. It is alleged an unknown male approached her and asked her for money before verbally abusing her and pushing her over face first into the footpath. The man then put his foot on the victims back pinning her to the ground while continuing to abuse her before fleeing the area.

The woman sustained grazes to her face and pain to her chest and shoulders.

The offender is described as

Of Aboriginal appearance
Approximately 184cm
Stocky build
Aged in his late 20's early 30's
Bald shaved head
Wearing a faded black t shirt, light coloured jeans with tears on both knees.

Police urge any one who may have witnessed this incident or has information in relation to the offender to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
