Police arrested a 43-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man on Friday night in relation to an alleged aggravated assault.

At about 10:10 pm police were called out to the Parap Road residence where it is alleged that a 33-year-old man was assaulted by residents of a neighbouring unit. On arrival police witnessed the victim bleeding heavily from his head with his 43-year-old wife attending to his injuries.

It is believed that the victim and his partner were assaulted outside their premises, where the man was struck to the head and body with an iron bar.

The neighbours had allegedly been in an argument earlier on Friday that continued during the night and was aggravated due to excessive alcohol consumption.

The offenders were immediately arrested and later charged with aggravated assault, assault police and resist police. They have been bailed to appear in Darwin Magistrate's Court on 11 June.
