Katherine Detectives in conjunction with uniform members have arrested a 23-year-old male in relation to an assault and robbery that occurred early this morning.

It is alleged that the 23-year-old entered the 65-year-old male victim's residence on Victoria Highway at approximately 5:00 am.

After demanding money the victim ran from his dwelling but was caught by the offender and received stab wounds to his upper torso.

The victim was later treated in hospital for his injuries and is in a stable condition.

The 23-year-old was charged with robbery while armed and aggravated assault and will appear in Katherine court on 24 March.
