Police have arrested a 21-year-old man in relation to an assault at Woolner yesterday morning.

The man allegedly attacked a 43-year-old woman as she was running along a track near Snell Street around 3.30am. The woman fought the man off and managed to alert police.

She was taken to the Royal Darwin Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.

Darwin Investigations unit members arrested the man at a unit in Winnellie just before 12.30pm today.

He has been charged with:
Attempted sexual assault
Aggravated assault
Indecent assault
Armed with an offensive weapon.

He has been remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on Monday.
