Police have arrested a 22-year-old male in relation to several assaults that occurred at Sky City Casino Darwin on Sunday 12 April.
The 22-year-old, who was believed to have been actively avoiding police was located on Saturday 18 April during a police operation and has since been charged with assault and engaging in violent conduct.
It is alleged that a group of men assaulted a number of people in separate incidents throughout Sunday morning as onlookers, who are believed to be friends of the offenders, watched on.
The group then moved on to the Mitchell Street entertainment precinct where two males from the group were involved in an assault on a male police officer on Peel Street.
The altercation occurred at approximately 4:00 am, resulting in the male officer receiving facial wounds after being assaulted whilst trying to arrest the offender
Acting Senior Sergeant Andy Bedwell of the Commander's Tactical Team said that the cowardly actions of the men were shameful.
"These random, unprovoked assaults were committed by spineless offenders and we spared no resources in tracking them all down. I hope that the speed with which we have dealt with these offenders, sends a message home to would-be thugs that NT Police will not stand for this sort of behaviour" he said.
A 32 year old man was arrested last week and has since been charged with aggravated assault and engaging in violent conduct.
A 23-year-old man was arrested on the morning of the incident and was charged with assaulting a police officer and for his actions at the Casino, further charged with assault with intent to steal, aggravated assault (x2) engage in violent disorder.
A 37-year-old old male co-offender has also been charged with aggravated assault for the attack on the Police Officer.
Police are continuing their investigations to identify and locate all witnesses, including the friends of the offenders and urge members of the public that may have any information relating to these events, to contact them on 131 444.
