Arrests for damaged buses - Alice Springs - 4261053

Two boys aged 12 and 13 have been arrested in relation to damage to seven vehicles at the Tangentjere Council compound at the weekend.

Members of the Property Crime Reduction Unit arrested the pair yesterday following investigations into criminal damage of five buses and two other vehicles which were parked in the council yard in Brown Street on Saturday.

All the vehicles were extensively damaged when 37 windows were smashed after offenders unlawfully entered the compound. It is estimated that more than $7000 worth of damage had been caused to the vehicles.

Both the boys have been charged with multi0ple counts of damage to the vehicles as well as trespass. They have been bailed to appear in the Youth Justice Court on April 7.

The 12-year-old has also been charged with unlawful entry at night and unlawfully damaging property in relation to a break-in at the Central Australia Rugby League canteen at Anzac Oval at the weekend.
