Four people have been arrested and will appear in court after allegedly passing counterfeit notes in Tennant Creek yesterday.
Police received information counterfeit notes had been passed at a store in Tennant Creek just after 2pm on Monday.
Security footage from the store identified three offenders, a man and two females, using counterfeit $50 notes to purchase goods.
Just after 10am on Tuesday, police approached a 20-year-old man and 15-year-old female who matched the description of the suspects.
Police searched the female's handbag and found 12 x $50 counterfeit notes all bearing the serial number CA 08265220. The two were taken by police to the Tennant Creek Watch house.
Just before 11am on Tuesday, police identified and arrested a 29-year-old man and 17-year-old female standing next to a vehicle of interest in Tennant Creek.
Police allege the group issued the counterfeit notes to purchase petrol and foods at various locations including Barkly Roadhouse and Threeways Roadhouse while travelling to Tennant Creek.
The four will face a number of charges including criminal deception, possess forged documents and knowingly utter forged documents.
All four have been refused bail and remain in police custody in Tennant Creek and will face court at a later date.
