Police have arrested a 45-year-old man and 27-year-old woman for stealing a caravan.

Members from the Property Crime Reduction Unit received a report on Monday April 27 that six caravans had been stolen from a rural property in Alice Springs.

The owner of the caravan told police that she had arrived at the site and found three caravans missing from the area.

The woman drove into town to report the missing caravans and on returning to the area a second time with police, found a further three caravans missing.

The man and woman have been arrested and charged with unlawful possession and stealing and have been bailed to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court at a later date.

The estimated worth of the six caravans is $38,950 and police investigations are continuing.
