Arrest – Tennant Creek - update

An 18-year-old male has been charged in relation to an incident that occurred early this morning at the Tennant Creek Pharmacy/Newsagency on Paterson Street.

At about 2.40 am police were notified of a multiple alarm activation at the premises and on arrival observed that someone was inside. They quickly identified that entry had been gained through the roof and one officer climbed up and arrested the male as he exited through the skylight.

Approximately $4 000 damage was caused to the premises and stock and the alleged offender was in possession of a quantity of recharge phone cards, pre-paid phone cards and a small quantity of coins.

The male has been charged with enter building at night with intent, stealing and criminal damage and remanded in custody to appear in the Tennant Creek Court today.
