Police have arrested and charged two males in relation to several stealing incidents that occurred in Darwin City on Saturday morning.
It is alleged that the two offenders aged 18 and 19 smashed the window of two vehicles that were parked at a restaurant at approximately 2:00 am on Saturday.
They stole a number of personal items as well as a car stereo.
It is believed that they then attended a residence on The Esplanade, entered via an unlocked door and stole numerous electronic items including a digital camera and a mobile phone.
The pair then fled the area however were located and arrested by City Safe members a short time later.
The 19-year-old male was charged with:
Aggravated enter dwelling with intent to commit offence
Stealing (x3)
Unlawfully damage property (x2)
The 18-year-old male was charged with aggravated enter a dwelling with intent to commit offence and stealing.
Both were bailed to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on 30 November.
Acting Senior Sergeant Antony Deutrom said that this acts as a timely reminder.
"I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to always lock their houses, as this once again proves that opportunistic thieves target unlocked homes" he said.
