A man has been arrested and charged for the sexual assault of a boy in Alice Springs earlier this year.

Alice Springs Regional Investigations Division arrested a 54-year-old man for the sexual assault of a six-year-old boy in May.

Police received a report of an alleged sexual assault on the boy at 7.30pm on Monday 4 May.

The man has been charged with two counts of sexual intercourse with a child under 10 and one count of aggravated assault.

The man appeared in Alice Springs Magistrates Court today and was remanded in custody until October 22.
