A 51-year-old man was arrested after he was caught drinking methylated spirits in Alice Springs on Friday.

The man was taken into custody after police on a motorcycle patrol of the Todd River noticed him drinking a mixture of orange juice and methylated spirits. The man has been charged under Section 61 of the Poisons and Dangerous Drugs Act.

He was bailed to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today (Monday).
