Arrest for domestic –Ti Tree

A 48-year-old man will face court following an assault in Ti Tree yesterday.

Police received a report just after 2am that a woman had been injured at Six Mile Camp following a domestic. The 30-year-old woman suffered multiple fractures to her leg, lacerations to her head and a suspected broken arm when she was assaulted by her husband during an argument.

Police allege the woman was assaulted with an iron bar and punched numerous times during the incident outside a house at the camp. Neighbours heard the woman's screams and came to assist. The woman's husband also sustained a broken leg and lacerations as members of the community intervened.

The pair were medivaced to Alice Springs Hospital where the female victim underwent surgery. The man was treated and then discharged. He has been arrested and charged with unlawfully causing serious harm and remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.
