Police arrested a 19-year-old male yesterday in relation to weapons offences.

Members received reports at approximately 5:00 pm of a male walking on Hinkler Street in Fannie Bay with a samurai sword.

He was located nearby, arrested and conveyed to the Darwin Watch House.

He has been charged with possession of a controlled weapon and armed with an offensive weapon.

He will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today.
