Appeal for witnesses – assault

Members of the Darwin Investigation Unit are investigating the alleged assault of a 23-year-old man that occurred in the early hours of Sunday 25 January this year.

At about 2.00 am the man and a 24-year-old female were on the footpath out the front of the construction site of the new China Town complex next to the Cinema. They were approached by an unknown male of Caucasian appearance with blonde hair who allegedly punched the victim once to his jaw and fled the area heading towards the Tap Bar.

The victim and the female then crossed the road and were approached by two males of Caucasian appearance who provided assistance to the couple. As a result of the assault the victim suffered serious facial injuries.

Police are appealing for the two males who assisted the victim, and anyone else who witnessed this incident, to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
