Police are appealing for information from the public in relation to an incident that occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning.

At about 3.45 am a 37-year-old male was found lying in a semi-conscious condition in the far left inbound lane of the Stuart Highway, outside the Leprechaun Motel in Winnellie. The male sustained serious head injuries and multiple abrasions and was conveyed by St John Ambulance to Royal Darwin Hospital.

Police are unsure of the actual circumstances surrounding how the male received the injuries, but prior to the victim being located it was observed that another male with a bicycle had been standing outside the Leprechaun Motel with him.

Police are seeking any information from the public who may have seen the injured male in the vicinity of the Leprechaun Motel between 2.00 am and 3.00 am yesterday morning.
