Aggravated assault – second arrest

The second male allegedly involved in the assault of two males in December last year was arrested yesterday.

At about 6.00 am on 28 December two males aged 20 and 21 were released from protective custody at the Darwin Watch House and walked to the taxi rank on Knuckey Street where they were approached by two allegedly intoxicated males. The pair allegedly threatened them with a firearm before stealing their wallets and valuables and assaulting them, knocking one victim unconscious.

One of the offenders, a 22-year-old male, got into a silver Holden Commodore and was apprehended a short time later by police. The second male left the scene travelling by foot down Austin lane.

The 33-year-old man has been charged with:

Robbery in company
Aggravated assault
Assault - threaten with firearm/weapon
Stealing

He was remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Magistrate's court today.
