Aggravated Assault – Galiwinku Community

A 19-year-old male has been arrested and charged after allegedly assaulting his 21-year-old wife and a police officer at approximately 9:30 am on Saturday morning

Police were called out to Galiwinku Community after reports of a domestic incident.

On arrival, the 21-year-old was found to have minor facial injuries and lacerations to her left forearm. It is alleged that she was punched and stabbed with a pair of scissors by the 19-year-old male who fled the scene.

It is alleged that whilst officers interviewed the female, the male returned to the residence and assaulted a senior lawman that was assisting police. Two members apprehended the male and escorted him to a police vehicle. He resisted arrest and spat in the face of an officer before being secured.

The male has been charged with:

Aggravated assault (x2)
Resisting police
Assaulting a member of the Police Force
Possessing cannabis in a public place

He was remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court today.
