Aggravated assault – Dundee Beach

Police

Police are investigating an aggravated assault that occurred on a 59-year-old male in Dundee on Saturday morning.

At approximately 1:00 it is alleged that an altercation occurred between the 59-year-old and two other males, when he and his 42-year-old male passenger were travelling in a Toyota Landcruiser along Waihoi Road.

The Toyota Hilux was then driven into the victim's car, causing the two to interlock.

The two male offenders in the Hilux, later established to be 29 and 46 years of age, then proceeded to smash the victims car and stab him through the window.

The offenders fled the scene and a passenger in the Toyota Landcruiser called an ambulance as the victim had sustained several puncture wounds to his arms, legs and chest.

He was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

The males that fled the scene were apprehended later that same morning and have since been arrested and charged.

The 46-year-old was charged with aggravated assault and possess/use controlled weapon at night and remanded to appear in the Darwin Magistrate's Court today.

The 29-year-old was charged with the same offences and bailed to appear in Court at a later date.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to the event to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
