Aged Pensioners Christmas Party - 40 years on

Police

Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service (NTFRS) will again be hosting the annual Aged Pensioners Christmas Party. This year makes the 40th consecutive year.

On Thursday (5 November) NTFRS Members will hit the streets, red buckets in hand, and with the generosity of members of the public, hope to raise money for the Christmas Party.

The event started in December 1970 and was the brain child of Station Commander Brian Chong Wee OBE, a NTFRS member that served for more than 30 years.

The festivities are set to occur on Sunday 13 December at the Kalymnos Club, Marrara.

Organiser of the event, (and OIC of the Jabiru Fire Station) Tex Tourell said that he hopes this year's party will bring together Darwin's Aged Pensioner community to begin celebrating the festive season.

"We are hoping that the 40th Anniversary of the event is even bigger and better than it has been in previous years.

"There will be a colourful assortment of food at the venue as well as free buses to pick up and return home all would-be party-goers that wish to attend" he said.
