20 Additional Police - Graduation Squad 100

Police

The 20 new police have successfully completed a 26 week course including legislation, policies and procedures, defensive tactics, driver training, firearms, cultural awareness, search and rescue and addressing domestic violence.

Police Commissioner Paul White said this is a proud moment for the Northern Territory Police Force, the new graduates, their families and friends.

"The graduation ceremony for these 20 new members not only marks the successful completion of the challenging training, but is the start of a diverse career as a Police Officer serving the Territory Community.

"The Officers will take up their posts as Probationary Constables throughout the Territory and can start thinking about their specific interests and career path as Police Officers.

"The general age range of our new recruits these days are generation Y, and fortunately a career with police can break down the stereotypical challenges of maintaining this group's interests in the long term by offering diversity in the workplace.

"Talk to any long term senior officers in the force about their past 20 year's employment and they can tell you about thirty jobs all in the one. Moving from urban to remote, intelligence, road safety, dog squad, drug squad, tactical response - whatever your personal interests and specialties, many choices and changes are available.

"I congratulate our new recruits on this graduation day, and encourage them all to not only concentrate on the job at hand, gain diverse experience and take on the challenge, but also to look towards an exciting career with the NT Police." Commissioner White said.
The 20 graduates will take up duties across the Northern Territory with the majority going to Alice Springs (9), Katherine (1), Tennant Creek (3), Casuarina (4), Palmerston (2) and Darwin Station (1).
