The Commissioner's Policing Excellence Medal is awarded to recognise excellence in policing by individuals or an identified group in the pursuit of the Northern Territory Police Force (NTPF) core business outcomes and encompassing corporate values.

Excellence is defined as a talent or quality which is unusally good and surpasses ordinary standards.
