The Northern Territory Fire and Emergency Services (NTFES) is the lead agency in responding to urban, regional and remote incidents from rescues, crashes, fires and severe weather events. Our 800+ volunteers respond all year around and show up when it matters most.
Territorians and businesses can directly support NT Fire and Rescue Service, NT Emergency Service and Bushfires NT volunteers through the NT Fire and Emergency Services Volunteer Community Fund.
Through donations, you can help volunteers stay skilled, equipped and ready to protect the Territory.
By supporting our volunteers, you help build a safer and more resilient Territory.
For the first time, Territorians and businesses can directly support volunteers through the NT Fire and Emergency Services Volunteer Community Fund.
Every tax-deductible donation over $2 helps upskill volunteers to keep our community safe and ready to support in times of need.
The NTFES Volunteer Community Fund is governed by a board, with strict guidelines ensuring that donations are used exclusively for brigade and unit volunteer support. Funds will not be used to pay volunteers or cover general operational costs already funded by the Northern Territory Government.

Our volunteers

Vicki Simlesa, NT Emergency Service volunteer
As NT Emergency Service volunteer, I’ve seen firsthand how important it is to have the right training and support when responding to emergencies and keeping our communities safe.
The new NTFES Volunteer Community Fund gives us greater certainty to take part in training and professional development, so we can be ready when severe weather or emergency events happen.
Community donations will make a real difference — helping us access more training, improve our resources and stay connected with the communities we protect.
Volunteers give their time and energy because we care about the Territory, but our resources are limited. With extra support through the Fund, we’ll be better equipped to protect lives, property and the environment. Together, we can build stronger, safer and more resilient NT communities.

Brad George, NT Fire Rescue Service volunteer
One of the toughest parts of volunteering in a frontline service is the time and energy it takes to train, prepare, coordinate and respond. It’s rewarding and makes you proud, but it can also leave you exhausted.
What’s even harder is shifting from fighting fires to asking the community for donations so we can keep improving the way we serve.
The NTFES Volunteer Community Fund changes that.
It allows us to spend more time training and responding, while giving local businesses and community members the chance to support us directly. Together, we can make sure there are professionally trained frontline responders ready to protect our urban areas and rural lifestyle.

Christine Platell, Bushfires NT volunteer
Volunteering on the frontline takes strength and commitment. It’s rewarding work that fills us with pride and makes us return to protect the NT.
Our volunteers can face a fire and walk away with a smile once the flames are out. That’s because we’re resilient, courageous and carry a good sense of humour through the smoky work that keeps our community safe.
By supporting the NTFES Volunteer Community Fund, you’re not just helping volunteers, you’re strengthening the whole community. Together, we can ensure that our dedicated frontline responders are always ready when the Territory needs them most.
