Often referred to as ‘the last frontier’, policing in the Northern Territory was first established in 1870, under South Australian control. Since then, the policing presence in the Territory has grown significantly and the year 2020 marks 150 years of continuous policing to the Northern Territory community.

Commemorative Challenge Coins are available for purchase as part of the celebration of 150 years policing in the NT.
The coins are available for purchase from the Northern Territory Police Museum and Historical Society Inc. at the price of $30 which includes a presentation box, postage and handling.

About the 150th anniversary coordinating committee
To commemorate the sesquicentenary of policing in the Northern Territory, the Commissioner of Police and CEO of Fire and Emergency Services approached the NT Police Museum and Historical Society to act as the coordinating organisation of all events, in partnership with other members of the Northern Territory policing family.
Current membership of the 150th Anniversary Coordinating Committee includes representatives from:
- NT Police Museum and Historical Society (NTPMHS)
- NT Police Association (NTPA)
- Retired Police Association of the Northern Territory (RPANT)
- Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services.
