Call for witnesses - Traffic incident - Acacia Hills

Police

Northern Territory Police are appealing for witnesses following a traffic incident in Acacia Hills overnight.

Just before 8:30pm, police received a report that a road train towing 4 trailers travelling northbound along Stuart Highway had lost a trailer. The male driver allegedly continued to drive to Noonamah, leaving the trailer partially blocking the highway.

Emergency services attended and the 35-year-old driver was medically assessed.

Prior to police arrival, the supervisor of the road train company arrived at the location and cleared the highway of the trailer, after attending Noonamah to collect to the road train. It is then alleged that the 35-year-old male stole a vehicle and fled the scene.

Police will allege that the truck veered to the wrong side of the road, before the driver attempted to return to the correct lane causing the last trailer to flip and roll several times.

Batchelor police are continuing investigations into the incident.

Northern Territory Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call 131 444. Please quote reference NTP2400038861. Anonymous reports can be made through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or through https://crimestoppersnt.com.au/
