Drug Arrest - Darwin Airport

Nightcliff man arrested with methamphetamine and 1,4-Butanediol at Darwin Airport on Saturday night. Drug and Organised Crime Detectives arrested a 33-year-old Nightcliff man after locating commercial quantities of methamphetamine and 1,4-Butanediol during a search of his clothing. The search and arrest took place after this male arrived on an interstate commercial flight late on Saturday night, 24 August 2019. The 33-year-old man was refused bail and will appear before the Darwin Local Court on Monday 26 August 2019 charged with: Supply Schedule 1 dangerous drug – commercial quantity; Possess Schedule 1 dangerous drug – commercial quantity. Drug and Organised Crime, Acting Superintendent Mark Malogorski said, “the supply of a commercial quantity of methamphetamines is a serious crime that carries a maximum of 25 years imprisonment, NT Police will continue to target drug suppliers of the harmful drug ice into the NT. This was an excellent result removing $20,000 worth of ice off the streets”.
