A second man allegedly involved in the sexual assault of a 22-year-old woman in Alice Springs on 2 February has been arrested.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips said the 18-year-old man was arrested at Karnte Town Camp on Saturday 9 February.

“He has been charged with having sexual intercourse without consent. Police refused bail and he was later further remanded in custody to appear in court in Alice Springs on 24 April 2013.

“Detectives would like to thank the public for the information which has been provided to investigators. This has seen two offenders now in custody over this terrible assault.

“Policing is about working together with the community to keep people safe. Without the assistance from members of the public many of these crimes would remain unsolved.”
