Man Charged for Recklessly Endanger Life – Darwin City

A 24-year-old man is to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court today after allegedly driving a car at two men on Friday 4 January.

Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Board of the Serious Crime Squad said the incident took place at around 4:25am on Friday.

“It is alleged the man had been in a licensed premises on Mitchell Street and was involved in an altercation with another man before getting in his Toyota Kluger and driving down Shadforth Lane.

“The man is alleged to have then driven his car at speed at two male pedestrians, aged 21 and 24. Both men heard the vehicle approaching them from behind and attempted to move out of the way of the oncoming car, however one was struck, receiving minor injuries.

“It is alleged the man returned a short time later and again attempted to run down the men.

“Late yesterday afternoon the man was located and arrested by Detectives of the Serious Crime Squad.

“His vehicle has also been seized for forensic examination,” Detective Senior Sergeant Board said.

He has since been charged with recklessly endanger life (x2) and aggravated assault.
