Man Assaulted - Witnesses Sought - Katherine

A 35-year-old man is in hospital in a stable condition following an assault in Katherine last night.

Detective Sergeant Michael Orldelman from the Northern Investigation Section said it is alleged the man was sleeping in a hotel room on Cypress Street at around 9:30pm when two men entered the room.

“The victim was assaulted and taken to Royal Darwin Hospital to receive treatment for head injuries,” Detective Sergeant Ordelman said.

“The two men fled the area in what is described as a red Commodore with shiny mag wheels and a spoiler.

“One of the men is described as a Caucasian male, large build, approximately 190cm tall, short hair and aged around 30-40 years of age.

“The second man is described as a Caucasian male, athletic build, approximately 177cm tall, short hair and of similar age.

“Police urge anyone who may recognise these males, or who may have any information relating to the incident, to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."
