Home and Property Forfeited – Acacia Hills

Police

A property in Acacia Hills, worth more than $450,000, has been forfeited to the crown following an extended investigation and court proceedings over four years.

Detective Superintendent Tony Fuller from the Drugs and Specialist Crime Division said an investigation began back in November 2008 following a number of unlawful entries throughout Darwin.

“A number of businesses in the industrial area were targeted, and close to $200,000 worth of items were stolen, including electrical equipment, tools, outboard motors and a dinghy,” Detective Superintendent Fuller said.

“A significant amount of the stolen items were located at the property and a 39-year-old man was charged and sentenced at the time.

“On Monday 7 January, the Supreme Court ordered the forfeiture of the house, a 15 hectare property and a vehicle, all believed to have been ‘crime-used’.

"This is a significant result and demonstrates that even if you are not physically committing the unlawful entries, there are consequences.

“If family or friends ask you to aid their criminal activity then you need ask yourself, what you are prepared to lose!”
