A 32-year-old male remains in custody facing a number of charges after allegedly assaulting his partner at Karnte Camp on the weekend.

Detective Sergeant Jonathan Beer of the Southern Investigations Division said the victim had received quite extensive injuries in the attack.

“Police will allege that the offender not only punched the victim several times to the face with a closed fist, but that he continued to kick her once she fell to the ground, then assaulted her further with a weapon,” said Detective Sergeant Beer.

The 30-year-old victim remains in hospital after undergoing surgery for the injuries sustained in the attack.

Detectives have charged the alleged offender with Unlawfully Cause Serious Harm; Aggravated Assault; Armed Offensive Weapon at Night; and Engage in Conduct that Contravenes DVO.
