The Wadeye Community has seen 29 arrests since the arrival of extra Police from the Metropolitan Patrol Group (MPG).

Superintendent Col Goodsell from the Special Operations Division said additional Police from MPG were deployed to assist the Wadeye Police in dealing with antisocial behaviour, property offences and unrest within the community.

“Since the targeted operation began on 7 January, Police have arrested 29 people, for a number of offences,” Superintendent Goodsell said.

“Two arrests were for aggravated assault, 16 were for breach of bail and 37 outstanding warrants were also executed.

“In addition, members have been conducting road safety duties, with vehicle and licence checks being undertaken. Fifteen Traffic Infringement Notices have been issued and there were also a number of cautions given.

“Police will continue to maintain a high visibility presence in the community in an effort to ensure the safety of its members."
