Assault and Stealing - Nightcliff

Detectives from the Serious Crime Squad are investigating the assault and robbery of a taxi driver in Nightcliff last night.

Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Board said at around 7:00pm, the 61-year-old taxi driver picked up three passengers in Malak and was instructed to drive to Nightcliff.

“The taxi driver has stopped outside the Kulaluk community just off Dickward Drive where he has been grabbed by one of the male passengers.

“The male passenger has demanded that the driver hand over cash before exiting the taxi with a small amount of money.

“The three passengers have run from the taxi and were last seen heading in the direction of Darwin City.”

The alleged offenders are described as:

A man of Aboriginal appearance approximately 18-20 years old, solid build around 180cm tall and wearing a white T-shirt.

The second man is described of Aboriginal appearance approximately 18-20 years old wearing dark clothes.

A woman of Aboriginal appearance approximately 16-18 years old with dyed hair tied back.
