Mr Jamie Chalker has been appointed the new Assistant Commissioner Regional Operations, to be based Alice Springs.

Assistant Commissioner Chalker has been an Officer with the NT Police Force for 18 years, serving in Alice Springs and Darwin, as well as the remote regions of Groote Eylandt, Papunya, Hermannsburg and Kalkaringi.

“It’s a great honour to be appointed to the position. I have previously served for six years in Alice Springs and look forward to getting back there,” said Assistant Commissioner Chalker.

“My father was an NT Police Officer for 33 years and retired at the rank of Assistant Commissioner. I am delighted to continue this family tradition.”

“Assistant Commissioner Chalker beat a strong field of candidates for the appointment and his experience puts him in good stead to thrive in this challenging role,” said Police Commissioner John McRoberts.

Assistant Commissioner Chalker will relocate to Alice Springs and take up the position early in the New Year.
