Media release feeds and alerts

Want Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency media releases delivered to you the moment they are published?

News feeds are RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds which allow you to conveniently access NTPFES media release items as soon as they are published, by having them delivered straight to you.

RSS feeds save you time on the web as they are an alternative way to distribute web content without requiring you to constantly visit the website to see what’s new. RSS feeds contain headlines and hyperlinks which then direct you to the article.

You can subscribe to timely updates from the NTPFES website. Whenever we update our media releases, the information is automatically updated and displayed in your reader.

How do I get a news reader or aggregator?

RSS feeds can be read using software called an ‘RSS reader’ or ‘aggregator’. This software can be web-based, desktop-based or mobile-device-based. A quick search of the web will find many free or inexpensive news readers that offer various capabilities. Once setup, the software automatically checks the feeds and lets you read any news items which have been added.

There is a range of different news readers and aggregators available and new versions are appearing all the time. Different software works on different operating systems, so you will need to choose one that will work with your computer or phone.

How do I start using NTPFES media release feeds?

Once you have chosen and loaded the software, you need to link your news reader/aggregator to the AFP's news feeds. To do this, please follow these steps:

Click on rss feedsor view RSS feed.

Click and drag the URL of the feed into your news reader. Alternatively cut and paste the same URL into a new feed in your news reader. Some browsers, including Firefox, Opera and Safari, automatically check for feeds for you when you visit a website, and display an icon when they find one. This can make subscribing to feeds much easier.

For more details on these, please check their websites.
