About

The name of the community Alpurrurulam was taken from the traditional name of the lake, now known as Lake Nash. There is a strong cultural connection with the lake, as well as the food source of fish and mussels. The surrounding area also provides bush turkey, kangaroo, goanna and other bush foods.

AFL is played and loved in the community, Alpurrurlam Young Guns play in Mount Isa League competition. Alpurrurulam Bush Carnival is held every year and is well attended by locals and surrounding communities.

Education

The Alpurrurulam School caters from Preschool to Year 10. School of the Air is available out of Mt Isa.

Health

The Alpurrurulam Health Clinic is staffed by two nurses who are available 24 hours a day for emergencies or during normal working hours for general health matters.
