Watch and Act – Grass Fire – Girraween

Fire and Rescue

Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service have issued a watch and act for some properties in Girraween.

There is a large grass fire in the vicinity of Compigne Road, Hicks Road and Gold Court. Properties in this area may be under threat.

Residents are urged to take action to protect their families and homes by implementing emergency plans. No order to evacuate has been enacted at this time.

At this time the fire is burning away from Girraween Primary School.

Multiple NTFRS and Bushfires NT crews are on scene battling the fire. The fire is generating a significant amount of smoke in the area so residents are advised to close their windows and stay indoors. For the safety of firefighting crews and other vehicles, drivers in the area are urged to slow down, turn on headlights and drive safely for the conditions. Obey any directions of emergency services personnel.
