Operation ROLLESTON targets secondary sales & supply

Northern Territory Police have charged two people in relation to the secondary supply and sale of alcohol in Alice Springs. 

A 56-year-old man has been charged with one count of Supply Liquor without a licence after he was allegedly found selling alcohol from a taxi with  members of the Alcohol Policing Unit locating a further 99ltrs of alcohol at his residence.

Further charges are expected to be laid in relation to the secondary sale of alcohol from his taxi.

A 46-year-old woman has been charged for allegedly selling alcohol and dangerous drugs from her residence in The Gap.

Members of the Alcohol Policing Unit executed a search warrant on the premises and located seven litres of alcohol, a quantity of cannabis and fireworks.

She will appear before court on the following charges:

  • Supply of Liquor without a license
  • Supply of Dangerous drug – less than commercial quantity
  • Possession of Dangerous drug – less than traffickable quantity.

She will be issued an infringement notice for Possess fireworks outside of prescribed period

Superintendent Brendan Muldoon of the Alcohol Policing Division said Operation ROLLESTON was a coordinated effort by members of the Alcohol Policing Unit from Darwin and Alice Springs targeting the secondary supply of alcohol within the Alice Springs community. 

“The secondary supply of alcohol has a devastating effect on the community and preys on the most disadvantaged, vulnerable and alcohol addicted people in the community,” said Superintendent Muldoon 

“These offenders then on sell alcohol without a licence and charge highly exorbitant prices to these vulnerable victims, profiting off their addictions.”
