Call for information – Firearms stolen – Darwin River

Police

Northern Territory Police are calling for information after four firearms were stolen from a residence in Darwin River.

Police believe the residence was entered sometime between 12:00pm on 13 August 2019 and 8:30am on 20 August 2019. The property was left unattended on 13 August, between 12:00pm and 5:30pm, and 16 August, between 12:00pm and 6:00pm.

The firearms were taken from a gun safe using keys that were found inside the residence. The firearms stolen are an Anschutz .22 calibre rifle, Norinco .22 calibre rifle, Baikal 12 gauge shotgun, and Mauser .308 calibre.

Detective Senior Sergeant Rob Jordan of Strike Force Trident said, "This is a timely reminder for those who have firearm safes to ensure the keys to their safes are well secured. The keys should be in a place which is unlikely to be found by those that should not have access to the safe. Police continue to investigate the theft and any motive behind it. I urge anyone with information to contact police.”

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 131444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Please quote reference number 9055876.
