Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the two vehicle crash which claimed the life of a 25-year-old man in Livingstone early this morning.
Superintendent Bob Rennie of the Traffic Operations Division said it appears the two 4x4s collided on the Stuart Highway, 2km south of the Cox Peninsula Road intersection at approximately 5:55am.
“Police, Fire and Rescue and St John Ambulance members attended the scene.
“The 25-year-old male driver of a Toyota Land Cruiser was declared deceased on arrival.
“Emergency Services extracted the 19-year-old female driver of the other vehicle and conveyed her to Royal Darwin Hospital.
“Both lanes of the Stuart Highway are blocked at this time and traffic diversions remain in place.
“Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the crash.”
This now takes the NT road toll to two compared to three for the same time last year.
