Welcome to the Adults Pages

Children depend on adults to provide them with a safe and nurturing environment in which they can grow and reach their full potential.

Making sure children are safe from harm or exploitation is a shared responsibility of families, the community, professionals working with children, police and government.

Child protection authorities are required to intervene when adults (usually parents or other family members) caring for children are unable or unwilling to protect them from harm or exploitation.

Every person in the Northern Territory is required by law to report suspected child abuse and neglect.

The CAT has developed this website to raise awareness of child abuse and neglect in our community and to provide information about child protection services in the Northern Territory.

The information provided may help you understand more about child abuse and neglect, how to identify children and young persons who may be at risk of harm and how to report your concerns.

If you suspect a child is being, or has been, abused or neglected then contact us.

Your report may protect a child from further harm and get help for a family.
